Step by step

  1. Start with your Local Offer

Use the Local Offer to see what's available (0–25): Family Hubs, SEND Support Service/Portage, therapies, and short breaks.

  2. Link in with Family Hubs

Family Hubs offer universal and targeted support; signpost courses, groups, and SEND pathways.

  3. Tell your GP and school/early years

Ask for records to update, and for referrals/reviews as needed (e.g., community paediatrics, SALT/OT/Physio via RMC).

  4. Connect with other parents

Peer groups and condition-specific charities (e.g., Contact, syndrome foundations) can provide practical tips and emotional support.

  5. Get impartial advice

Contact SENDIASS for EHCP queries, school support, and mediation.

  6. Ask for help early

If you're overwhelmed, request Early Help via CFSS, or a social care needs assessment under s17 for disabled children.
